EBRI mourns the loss of its President, Professor Antonino Cattaneo.
To all of us at EBRI, he was simply Antonino.
We have lost a visionary scientist, someone who could anticipate the future of research and build bridges across disciplines.
But Antonino's greatness lay not only in his scientific insight. He was a true mentor. Discussing an experiment, imagining a new hypothesis, picking up a piece of chalk and sketching on the blackboard the path to prove it—this was how he inspired us every day.
He trained generations of scientists, teaching us the value of curiosity, skepticism, rigor, and intellectual freedom. Each of us will always remember his extraordinary intellectual generosity, his ability to listen, and his infectious enthusiasm.
His legacy will live on in the laboratories he helped build, in the researchers he trained, in the projects he inspired, in the ideas that will continue to generate new discoveries, and, above all, in the patients who, one day, may benefit from the scientific insights he had the courage to pursue.
Thank you, Professor Cattaneo. Thank you, Antonino.
It has been an immense privilege for all of us to work alongside you, to learn from you, and to grow with you.
The most meaningful way to honor your memory is to carry forward the path you showed us: to pursue science with courage, passion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to improving people's lives.
