Rita Levi-Montalcini Lecture 2015

On 12 June 2015 the Rita Levi-Montalcini Lecture was delivered by Thomas C. Südhof (Stanford University, School of Medicine, USA), Nobel Laureate for his fundamental contribution to understanding the mechanisms of neurotransmitter release in synapses and the role that calcium ions have in controlling this process. The Lecture entitled “The neurexin enigma – from synapse formation to schizophrenia” was followed by an International Workshop on “Exploring the Synapse”, which focused on the extremely rapid processes of neuronal communication in synapse, at the basis of sensory representations, emotions and cognitive processes.
